All six of the students here this week came with different goals. Some want to learn how to control their car better in bad weather and some are looking to become a rally driver. Some simply want to add rallying skills their already accomplished road racing skills. The school has classes that run from two to five days and no matter your reason or your length of stay Team ONeil teaches the same fundamental driving principles across the board.

The walls inside the classroom where the students are gathered for the morning instructional session looks like a teenagers bedroom. Magazine articles on the school cover the walls and neatly organized plaques proclaim victory achieved at dozens of rallies. Theres an autographed Ken Block photo and a framed Travis Pastrana jersey with the superstars signature and sarcastic quip Tim You are insane!

Adam Yeoman takes Rally America LSPR event

Congrats to 2010 Team O’Neil student Adam Yeoman of Houghton, MI, along with co-driver Jordan Schulze took their first-ever overall event win at RA LSPR in their 2002 Subaru Impreza!

41 very talented Rally teams from across the country started the popular Rally, but only 17 teams were fortunate enough to finish the wet and muddy event. In the end it was 2011 Rally America “Jeff Moyle Rookie of the Year” recipient, Adam Yeoman from Houghton, MI, along with co-driver Jordan Schulze, who maintained their early lead and took their first-ever overall event win in a 2002 Subaru Impreza.

Team O’Neil student Warren Elliott was the Champion in the Modified Four Wheel Drive Class during the SCCA RallyCross National Championship held at Tulsa Raceway Park, Tulsa, OK the weekend of October 8, 2011.

Here are the National Champions in each of the eight classes competing in the SCCA RallyCross National Championship at Tulsa Raceway Park, shown by class, National Champion driver, hometown, and car.

  • Stock – Front Wheel Drive: Brian Priebe, Lexington, Ohio, Nissan Sentra.
  • Stock – Rear Wheel Drive: Douglas Largent, Springfield, Mo., BMW 325i.
  • Stock – All Wheel Drive: Jan Gerber, Ralston, Neb., Subaru WRX.
  • Prepared – Front Wheel Drive: Keith Lightfoot, Fort Collins, Colo., Ford Focus SVT.
  • Prepared – Rear Wheel Drive: Sam Henry, Republic, Mo., Mazda Miata.
  • Prepared – All Wheel Drive: Kubo Kordisch, Brighton, Colo., Subaru Impreza.
  • Modified – Two Wheel Drive: Kent Hamilton, Anchorage, Alaska, Honda Civic.
  • Modified – Four Wheel Drive: Warren Elliott, East Haddam, Conn., Mitsubishi Evo.
